Quantum Geophysics, Inc.
Quantum Geophysics. is a CADD-based Geophysical Consulting Firm that specializes in surface and down-hole geophysical methods to identify subsurface conditions in support of engineering, groundwater, and environmental investigations.

Quantum is a member of the Pennsylvania Council of Professional Geologists (PCPG).

The firm was incorporated in 1990 and has since conducted nearly 500 geophysical surveys. Clients include:

  • developers and constructors
  • small-to-large size engineering, environmental and architectural firms
  • manufacturing companies
  • utility companies, and
  • federal agencies.

Sphere of Operation
The sphere of operation is the eastern United States. The company has carried out surveys as far south as Lake Charles, LA (former Chennault AFB); as far west as St. Louis, MO (DOE Weldon Springs Site); and as far north as Rochester, NY (GINNA Nuclear Power Plant).

Typical surveys include:

  • verifying the presence/absence of USTs
  • evaluating soil corrosion potential, continuity of confining layers, and rock ripping potential
  • mapping top of rock, voids, cavities, pinnacles, fractures, waste disposal areas, abandoned mine workings
  • identifying potential water resources and borrow areas
  • locating leaks

Richard Lee
The company was founded by Richard Lee, president and principal geophysicist. Mr. Lee is a registered geophysicist (California) and a professional geologist (Pennsylvania) with over 22 years' experience conducting geophysical investigations.

He was involved in the early phases of site characterization at DOD Rocky Mountain Arsenal, has worked on over 25 military installations, and has conducted geophysical surveys throughout the continental United States, Alaska and overseas, including Subic Bay Naval Base in the Phillipine Islands and Ponce Dam in Puerto Rico.

Mr. Lee is an instructor for the PCPG Geology Review Course given semi-annually for practicing geologists and those preparing to take the Geologist Licensing Examination by the State Licensing Board; and a Director of PCPG.
